代替 Browsers

ジョージア工科大学の、従って恐らくは米国での調査によると、過去 1 年間に代替ブラウザを試さなかった人は 71% だそうだ。この数値をどう見るかはそれぞれの立場に依る。

IE’s success cannot be attributed to its access through Windows. The reason why people are not opting for other browsers is because of IE’s superiority.

MS の中には、IE が Windows に付属しているからではなく、上記のように IE が優れているから乗り換えないのだと見ている人が居るようだ。
代替ブラウザの出現によって、停滞していたブラウザ技術に進展があったという見方に対しても、そうした人に依ると、IE6 SP2 から 18 ヶ月後には IE7 が出るのだから、関係ないとシラを切る始末。

Internet Explorer is due to release its new version (IE 7.0) in 2006, just 18 months after we released IE 6 SP2. It’s mainly the techie community that’s trying other browsers. Average computer users are more comfortable with IE.

主として技術に関心の高い層が代替ブラウザに手を出しているのに対して、平均的コンピュータ使用者は IE に概して満足している、と考えているようだ。
